Bio
Dr. Ananta Ganjoo is currently working as a Scientist in Research and Development at Shroomery, a mushroom cultivation firm. She is leading the development of processes for the extraction of bioactive compounds from medicinal mushrooms, including their estimation and validation. Her role also involves auditing and maintaining SOPs related to mushroom extracts, working cultures, and spawn production.
Recently, she was awarded a Ph.D. in Science at CSIR-Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine, focusing on the development of a biotransformation process for synthesizing hydroxamic acids using Bacillus smithii IIIMB2907. With her doctoral research in Fermentation and Microbial Biotechnology, she is passionate about advancing the use of microorganisms in biotransformation processes to synthesize value-added compounds and improve industrial-scale bioprocesses.
Additionally, she holds an M. Tech. degree in Molecular Engineering & Advanced Chemical Analysis, where she explored computational chemistry and molecular modeling to understand the chemistry behind biological processes. Her B. Tech. degree was in Biotechnology, with a major project on cloning and purifying Isocitrate Lyase 2 from Mycobacterium tuberculosis.
Dr. Ganjoo has authored multiple publications in high-impact journals and holds a couple of patents in the fields of biotransformation and product development. She has received several awards, including the best oral presentation at BioSangam 2024, first prize in the 3MT (3-Minute Thesis competition), and recognition as a keynote speaker at the Indian International Science Festival 2020.
Her research and professional expertise focus on biotransformation processes, microbial biotechnology, and fermentation science. She is now inclined toward medicinal mushroom extraction and product development, exploring sustainable and innovative solutions for pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries. Dr. Ganjoo is always open to discussing collaborative opportunities, research ventures, and innovations in biotechnology, fermentation science, and product development. She is on a journey to explore the microbial universe.
